Former Electronic Arts mobile gaming executive Mike Verdu joined Netflix as vice president of game development in 2021. Getting existing subscribers to download and play mobile games is a challenge, though, Benes noted. As of September 2023, Netflix's games have been downloaded 70.5 million times, globally, according to data obtained from Apptopia. The beta rollout to limited users Canada and the U.K. included Oxenfree from Night School Studio, a Netflix game studio, and Molehew's Mining Adventure, a gem-mining arcade game. But Netflix is not looking to be a console replacement, Netflix gaming executive Verdu previously told Tech Crunch.

Drock told Insider there are three lifestyle tradeoffs that have had an outsized impact on his and his wife's ability to build wealth. "When I first asked her to consider moving, she literally cried," Drock wrote in a blog post. It turned out to be a "key decision for our financial life," he said. Netflix launched its video game streaming service in November 2021, investing in mobile app games. The pivot to interactive streaming comes as Netflix's growth has slowed to single digits. As Netflix chases younger audiences and grapples with keeping its current subscribers content, the streaming giant has fixed its sights on a new chapter: video games. In late 2021, Netflix began dabbling in creating its mobile app games. The pivot to video games comes as Netflix's growth has slowed tremendously — according to records kept by Stock Analysis, the company's annual growth had never been below 12% until last year.

It then delved further into M&A to kickstart its games business. And the streamer hasn't completely abandoned its build-from-within strategy, as it also announced plans last fall to build its own gaming studio in Finland. He recently was elevated to the Lstaff, a group of 25 Netflix business heads who debate its biggest initiatives. (Netflix ended up doing a partnership in 2019 with that company, Studio Dragon, and its parent CJ ENM.) But leadership has been steadfast that Netflix's M&A mantra hasn't changed.

College degree requirements lock millions of Americans out of jobs. Persistent labor shortages have caused some states and companies to drop degree requirements. However, persistent labor shortages have helped call such degree requirements into question. Craig said she is the first member of Congress to officially drop degree requirements for congressional staff. "Every job description should consider: Does this job actually need a four-year degree," or is relevant experience sufficient, she said.

Netflix may choose to pay employees more than the figures reflected in this data or compensate them in additional ways. Based on the data, Netflix offered annual base salaries ranging from $40.45 per hour to $800,000, with a median of $184,080, for various roles.

The streaming giant is building its first in-house video game studio in Helsinki, Finland, as it expands its empire over mobile games, Netflix announced Monday. The new gaming studio will be helmed by Marko Lastikka, a veteran from gaming giants Zynga and Electronic Arts, Netflix VP of Game Studios Amir Rahimi said in a blog post. Rahimi said the new studio, however, will be built “from scratch.”Monday’s announcement brings Netflix’s total number of gaming studios up to four. Netflix’s Rahimi said each studio has “different strengths and focus areas” and together will develop a diverse suite of games for Netflix users. Netflix Games have been live for a little over a year now.
Netflix said Monday it will be opening an internal game studio in Finland. This is the company's first push into internal game development since streaming giant entered the mobile gaming space in November 2021.
